Tallinn Festival of Trumpet Music
March 16 - April 7, 2010

The first-time festival will feature performances by trumpet soloists and ensembles, as well as brass ensembles, playing some of the best-known pieces composed for the trumpet at the St. John's Church in Tallinn, the Chamber Music Hall of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and the Assembly Hall of the University of Tartu. The last of these venues will see the performance of the festival's star, Adán Delgado Illada from Spain. The festival will end with an international competition of young trumpet soloists, Trompetitalendid 2009 (Trumpet Talents 2009) held at the Chamber Music Hall of the Academy of Music and Theatre, separately for professionals and younger trumpet players.
The Artistic Director of the festival is trumpetist Aavo Ots.

An important part of the activities of the non-profit organisation Aavo Ots Music Studio comprises the fostering and promotion of wind music in Estonia, and performances at schools in order to attract talented young people to study music. Another significant aim is to improve the professional skills of wind soloists and ensembles in order to help them become internationally competitive, and to prepare them for international competitions.

One more important direction is organising youth chamber music concerts both in Estonia and abroad. In cooperation with the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Studio is organising the International Trumpet Days (the 19th in 2008). Together with the town of Suure-Jaani, a Youth Trumpet Summer Academy was conducted, and jointly with the Võru Music School and the town of Võru, the music studio is organising the Võru Brass Music Days that have been held since the year 1996.

The soloists and ensembles of the Music Studio have performed at numerous functions of the city of Tallinn: the Old Town Days, Christmas concerts, performances at the Tallinn Town Hall and the Winter Garden of the Estonia Theatre, as well as the schools of Tallinn. The Aavo Ots Music Studio is a member of the Estonian Music Council and the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE). The Music Studio aims to further the musical education of young adolescents, both at the level of hobby education and training future professionals.

The Aavo Ots Music Studio provides quality education at each of the said levels. Aavo Ots has been elected wind music mentor of the Estonian Choral Association, as well as Conductor of the Year by the Estonian Wind Music Society in 2007.
