www.festivalcredo.com The International Credo Festival of Orthodox Sacred Music has taken place in Tallinn since 1994. The Festival is scheduled around the Orthodox feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God (21 September according to the "old style" calendar). The Festival's goal is the preservation, development, and popularisation of Orthodox music culture. Over twelve years, the Festival has witnessed some of the finest examples of Orthodox music from early Christian liturgical chants to compositions by modern composers. The participants of the Festival have included outstanding choral groups from Estonia, Russia, Georgia, Latvia, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Ukraine, and Romania: among them the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Patriarchate ‘Drevnerussky Raspev’ (conductor Anatoly Grindenko); the Festal Choir of the Danilov Monastery (Georgi Safonov); the Mixed Choir of the Estonian Radio (Toomas Kapten); the Estonian early music ensemble Hortus Musicus (Andres Mustonen); the ‘Blagovest’ Sacred Music Ensemble of Moscow (Galina Koltsova); the Male Choir of St Petersburg (Vadim Afanasyev); the ‘Blagovist’ Soloists' Ensemble of the Lavra Gallery, Ukraine (Tatiana Kumanovskaya, Mikhail Gulkovsky); the ‘Rustavi’ State Male Ensemble, Georgia (Anzor Ergomayshvili); the ‘Anastasis’ Choir of Romania (Dan-Milan Mengeshi); the Hedwig-Eleonora Chamber Choir, Sweden (Pär Friedberg); the St Petersburg Chamber Choir (Nikolay Korniev); the St Nicholas Cathedral Choir, Kuopio, Finland (Anita Lintu) and many others. In an effort to nurture an interest towards Christian culture among the youth, the Festival has also invited serious-minded children's and youth choirs, giving these young musicians the opportunity to perform alongside real masters. The founder of the Festival is Zoja Tumanova-Rodman. On this year will perform: ENSEMBLE VOX CLAMANTIS conductor Jaan-Eik TULVE (Estonia); MALE ENSEMBLE "CREDO" conductor Stanislav Sheljahhovski (Estonia); Childrens choir "Raduga" conductor Natalia Kuzina (Estonia); NATINAL CHOIR named after Pavel Chubinsky conductor Aleksandr Zuzkin (Ukraine); "SEXSTETE named after N.KEDROV" conductor archdeacon Aleksandr Kedrov (France).
