Welcome to the International Festival and Competition “Trumpet Talents Tallinn 2019”!
Like in the previous years we will follow the tradition that gives its own colour to the festival: a brass instrument soloists’, ensembles’ and orchestras’ festival with workshops and masterclasses in Estonia where young musicians have the opportunity not only to work with international well-known masters, but also to live the junction between the eastern and western culture!
The guest-professors have formerly been Timofey Dokshitser (Moscow), internationally well-known Finnish trumpet player Jouko Harjanne (Helsinki), Yuri Bolshijanov (St. Petersburg), Niels-Ole Bo Johansen (Denmark), Viktor Sumerkin (St. Petersburg), and the former first trumpet and society member of the Vienna Philharmonic, Johann Gansch (Salzburg), whose coming was a great honour for the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. A long-term first trumpet for Berliner Philharmonischer Orchester (1974–1998), internationally well-known soloist and professor for Universität der Künste Berlin Konradin Groth conducted a mastercourse during the event in 2005. In 2006 Lithuanian conductor Ugnius Vaiginis performed successfully at Trumpet Days with his orchestra “Jovaras”. In 2009, the highlights were the concerts of 5deBrass (Spain). Mastercourse was given by the current solo trumpeter of the Spanish National Symphony Orchestra, prof. Adán Delgado Illada.
The masterclasses and workshops conducted by teachers from different horizons are aiming to give to the participants a broad view on the contemporary methods of the brass instruments teaching and to enrich their repertoire and music knowledge. In 2013 guest professors were Simo Rantanen, Adomas Kontautas, Adán Delgado Illada, Miroslav Petkov, Boris Taburetkin and Enrique Rioja. In 2014 guest soloists were Philipp Hutter (trumpet, Switzerland) and Frederic Belli (trombone, Germany). In 2015 guest professors were Enrique Rioja (Madrid), Pasi Pirinen (Helsinki), Adomas Kontautas (Vilnius) and Boris Taburetkin (St. Petersburg). Soloists were Ernesto Chuliá and Adán Delgado Illada. In 2016 guest professors were Massimo Spiga (Cagliari), Adomas Kontautas (Vilnius) and Boris Taburetkin (St. Petersburg). Soloists were Miroslav Petkov, Francisco “Pacho” Flores and Neeme Ots. In 2017 guest professors were Charlie Porter (USA), Mario Martos Nieto (Spain), Fabio Brum (Brasil), Massimo Spiga (Italy), Adomas Kontautas (Lithuania) and Boris Taburetkin (Russia). In 2019 guest professors are Charlie Porter(USA), Adomas Kontautas (Lithuania), Massimo Spiga(Italy) ja Fabio Brum (Brazil).
In addition to workshops and masterclasses the Trumpet Days comprise the competition of young trumpet soloists. We wish you a warm welcome to the International Trumpet Festival and hope that you will enjoy this moment dedicated to the trumpet!
